Business Life Cycle Challenge

In 2011 nine students in year 10 and 11 from four Port Macquarie High Schools and one Year 11 class of Business Studies students from Melville High School took up the opportunity to participate in the Business Life Cycle Challenge.

The Business Life Cycle Challenge is a hands-on business skills program that gives participants the ability to create, maintain, and then liquidate their own business over a 23 week period.

Each group meet 1 day per week for two hours, and work with mentors from the local business community to participate in the challenge. The material is all on-line, utilising video, audio, and other text based learning styles.

The Business Life Cycle Challenge was created with a number of partners including TAFE NSW, Westpac, RDA Northern Inland, Country Energy, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and NSW Business Chamber.

Through the partnership with TAFE NSW and particularly their New England Institute the material used in the challenge is aligned with units of competency from the Business Service Training Package, enabling participants who complete all requirements of the challenge to gain a Certificate II in Business.

The Business Life Cycle Challenge is a not for profit incorporated association whose vision is to provide opportunities for young people to become involved in creating their own small business and learn by doing.

The challenge is not just for students doing business studies it is an opportunity for everyone.

The Business Life Cycle Challenge works with and is supported by the various Chambers of Commerce, Department of Education and Training and community service clubs that will enable our vision to come true in your community and offer fantastic opportunities to all our youth.
