Disability Partnership

In 2010, ACES Inc along with the Department of Education (including local high schools, DET Support Unit and DET School-based Apprenticeship and Traineeships Units) partnered to support youth (including mainstream students, students with mild disabilities, and students with disengagement issues) to gain valuable work and community-based experiences in the disability sector through the participation in one or more of the partnership programs ie., work placement, school-based traineeships and volunteering.

In addition, this partnership responds to the forecasted skills shortage in the community sector and encourages young people to consider working within the disability sector.

Partnership Project Objective/s

·         To give youth a viable option for learning and HSC attainment (or equivalent) to better meet their needs – ie., school-based traineeship in Certificate III Community Services – Disabilities Worker over a 2 or 3 year period

·         To increase engagement and retainment of students in education

·         To increase the presence of young people within the Disability Sector

·         Address future skills shortages in the Community Services Sector

·         Increase social inclusion between abled and disabled people within the community.

Partnership Project Deliverables

The Partnership will work towards achieving the following model.
