Youth Space on Paper

Youth Space on Paper is a collaborative initiative to assist increasing the literacy skills of young people and to expose them to career options in the print media industry. The Macleay Argus agreed to provide a regular page in their paper for youth information such as; profiles, business and service providers targeting youth, education and employment opportunities, sporting and cultural events and Youth Advisory Committee information.

Students from local schools attended a workshop designed to prepare them for writing articles and exposing them to the industry.  Guest speakers from the Argus told participants how they came to be in the industry, what a typical day was like for them and some highlights in their career so far. TAFE NCI delivered a session giving students an insight into editorial and research writing. Students then had a chance to write their own article.

The Youth Moves page has been a success and continues to be published.
